What We Like
The video translation feature is genuinely impressive — upload a video of yourself speaking English, and HeyGen produces a version where your avatar speaks fluent Japanese, Spanish, or any of 40+ languages with lip-sync matching. For global businesses, this eliminates the need to re-record content for each market. Avatar quality is very close to Synthesia's at a lower price point.
What Could Be Better
The free tier is extremely limited — barely enough to test the platform. Avatar inventory is smaller than Synthesia's. Long-form videos can have continuity issues where avatar behavior becomes repetitive. API documentation could be more comprehensive.
